I really don't like the definition of mid engined. Those front wheels could be 8 feet from the driver but if the engine is just behind the axle it counts as mid engined. Maybe a new name is necessary. Front-Aft perhaps. who knows. It bugs me.

It's front-engine, plain and simple.

But, still mid-engined none the less.

Rear

wat? They are mid-engined, but with the engine to the front of the cabin. The S2000 is the same as well, the motor is mounted quite a bit away from the front axle. On the Corvette the engine is just so huge it looks close to the front axle.

fm is front mid, like the s2000. Mr is mid rear (drive) and connotes a driver in front of the engine and the engine in front of the rear axle. Both technically mid engined, but fm cars aren't considered mid engined traditionally

Seems like this should be a Blipshift shirt.
But seriously it's a difference between being FMR and RMR. Might be a misnomer, but when people say "mid-engine," they're almost always referring to RMR.
Being a dick about it is just being a dick about it.

Front engine: Engine in front of passenger cabin, behind front bumper.
Rear engine: Engine behind rear wheels, partially embedded in the tree that the car hit after exiting the road in a reverse-oriented fashion.
Mid-engine: Engine between rear wheels and cabin.
Defining every Corvette as a mid-engine car is pedantry at its best.
